If you are reading this article, independently of the industry you work on, by now you’ve probably heard of the General Data Protection Regulation, commonly referred to as GDPR. This regulation is currently being considered the most important change in data privacy regulation in 20 years.
After four years of preparation and debate, the GDPR was approved by the EU Parliament on 14 April 2016, with the enforcement date now around the corner: 25 May 2018. At this time, organisations in non-compliance may face heavy fines.
Even if your firm is well into a steady progress in its GDPR implementation, there are always going to be some unexpected events or issues arising. Given the magnitude of such a regulatory change, it is very useful and good practice to regularly question all streams within this change project and anticipate any potential issue.
